Science Tarot Announces Second Printing

May 30th, 2013

Science Tarot Announces Second Printing

It's happening: Science Tarot is going into its second printing!

We are thrilled to announce that Science Tarot is now printed right here in California, where the deck was created. We are especially proud that working with a local printer allowed us to create printed colors more vibrant and more true to the original artworks. The cardbacks' chalkboard green is more real, the reds of stars looks nearly radioactive, and the faces throughout are more lively.

The new printing also offers excellent cardstock, a new gloss with a better grip for shuffling ease, and the same well-loved, nearly bullet-proof box. All content is identical to the first printing, including the booklet of 100 pages still included within. Only the colors are adjusted to better reveal the artwork!

This 2nd Edition of Science Tarot should be available in July.

Thank you so much for all your support and interest!
Stay connected by liking us on Facebook for details as they develop, and visit our website at http://www.sciencetarot.com

About the artist:
Janelle Schneider is a mixed media artist as well as a digital artist for feature films. Janelle has had a life fascination with mythology, symbolism, and the role of the subconscious in art and art making and is currently studying both Shamanic and Druidic art/spiritual traditions. She is influenced by the writings and drawings of Carl Jung and the writings of Joseph Campbell, as well as the works of artists Frida Kahlo, Rothko, and Georgia O'Keefe. She's inspired by visions and dreams, indigenous wisdom, and the natural world and its forms. Her use of dreamlike colors, symbolism, sacred geometry, mandalas, and depictions of the divine feminine acknowledges the relationship between light, sound, and matter, and honors the inter-connectedness of All of Life.

Her work with the Mandala is a love affair of the heart. A circle filled with possibility, symbolism, stories, and healing, the Mandala is a reflection of the Outer within the Inner. Focused intention, invoked in the sacred space of the Circle, through the use of symbol and color, a mandala is a meditation manifest in form. Her mandalas can be used as concentration points for meditation practice, or to bring that vibration into a specific space, and to just be enjoyed as art.

Drum Making as Meditation Class

Drum Making as Meditation Class

"Drum Making Gathering for Healing, Love, Life, and Peace"

I'm currently in the process of arranging a drum making weekend workshop with Elizabeth Theriault, and would REALLY LOVE IT if some of you might be interested in taking this workshop as well.
Elizabeth's drums are exquisite, and this workshop truly promises to be a transformational experience.

http://www.drumspeak.org/index.php?p=1_5_Drum-Making
http://www.blessingways.net/Mended-Heart-Drums/Mended-Heart-Drums.html

Here is a description from her flyer:

"As we gather to make our drums, we will also explore using drums for healing, balance, and connection within a ceremony setting. The workshop addresses the spiritual, emotional, and physical aspects of Drum making. Drum practices woven within the structure of the workshop are 4-fold and will include usage as a medicine song tool, as a shamanic tool for journey work, as a meditation tool, and for mental focus with I Ching drumming. We will also weave our time together with storytelling, songs, and sharings from the heart. Each participant will take home his or her own beautiful wood frame and leather drum with drumstick."

Elizabeth will be flying in from Hawaii, and as soon as at least 8 people express an interest a date can be set in either Aug, Sept, or Oct. The class will be held in Northern California, near San Rafael/Larkspur area. The location and date will be set as soon as at least 8 people (the class minimum) contact me to let me know they are interested.
Let me know if you think you'd like to attend, and/or find out more information.

New Work In Progress

moving along on these, never enough time it seems. Working in acrylic and matte gel medium transparent layers takes some time. More to come, will post further progress :)

An Amazing Convergence

September 8th, 2010

An Amazing Convergence

For a long time now and increasingly in the last two years I have felt a growing awareness of the interconnectedness of all things, a steady and strong unease at the state of the planet, and a growing urgency to find a way to help bring things back into balance. As a visual artist I have tried to honor these feelings through my paintings, exploring dreams, symbolism and intuitive insights, making art that tries to help other people feel the importance of being and living in harmony with the planet.

Now it seems that with each day there are more and more seemingly disparate threads converging. Here's an example; after reading a book by Sandra Ingerman, which I found after discovering the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers, found through a Bioneers weblink, I saw the film For the Next 7 Generations, I came to the film through a web search for like minded people and organizations, on the advice of a wise older woman in my life to whom I had been sharing my thoughts and feelings on these things. In my mind I have followed that winding thread again and again, and am amazed each time. Most of the people in my life do not share or understand this part of me, and for most of my life this sense of awareness and connectedness to the Earth had been dismissed as childish imagination, but now I seek to nurture and develop this further.

I am excited and amazed at how many learning resources are out there, it feels as if I am being guided and shown what I need to know.

Help A Struggling Artist go to the Florence Biennale

May 18th, 2010

Help A Struggling Artist go to the Florence Biennale

For the second time I'm honored to be invited to participate in the Florence Bienale in Florence, Italy!

www.florencebiennale.org

The 8th Edition of the event will be held Dec of 2011. I really appreciate the much advanced notice, as the entry fee alone for this event is nearly $5000, not including airfare and accommodations.

Due to the steep fee I was not able to attend in Dec 2009, but I am hoping to be able to attend in 2011. From now until the June of 2011 entry deadline, 50% of the proceeds from the sale of my prints or original paintings will go toward the entry fee.

Want to help a struggling artist step out of Marin and onto the world stage? Show your support by purchasing either prints or original artwork from my FineArt America gallery:
